Welcome & Happy Samhain

MaryLou Holidays

Hello and welcome to my blog. My intention for this blog is to share a few of my favorite things with you: crystals, Reiki, yoga, essential oils and all things metaphysical, mystical and magical.

For my first post, I wanted to embrace the season and share with you a little about the magic of samhain. Samhain (pronounced sow-in) is a Gaelic festival celebrated from October 31st to November 1st. Samhain means “Summer’s End” in Gaelic and marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the Celtic new year.

As we begin our journey into the darker half of the year, the veil between the living world and the spiritual realm thins. Should we choose, now is the time to connect with our ancestors who have crossed over. Seek their guidance to heal, release that which is no longer needed and to feel their love and support. During this magical time, let us also take a moment to celebrate and honor our ancestors for all they have sacrificed for us and for being an eternal part of our lives.

As the sky turns gray and the air begins to chill, we are reminded of the cycle of life, death and rebirth. We have reaped the bounty of our harvest and leaves begin to fall from the trees. The growth cycle is done and the earth goes dormant.

Just as Mama Earth takes her winter sleep so must we. Let’s embrace this time of year to reflect on the fruits of our hard work and to let go of those endeavors that didn’t quite manifest.

The cycles of life are mysterious and powerful; reminding us of the delicate balance between light and dark – we cannot have one without the other.
